Southern Weyr

We got invited to Southern after our little visit to Cove Hold. The Weyr has had its improvement since the days of the Oldtimers. The history of Southern Weyr started 10 Turns before the 9th Pass. F'lar sent F'nor and the Benden Weyrlings to grow up and train in the South. T'bor and Kylara are the Weyrleaders. Threadscored riders were sent to Southern to recuperate. F'nor was once sent there to recuperate from a wound. It was there he discovered Grall and the Fire-lizards. When the Oldtimers were banished, T'bor moved to High Reaches and T'kul and the rest who would not go with F'lar are sent to Southern. After the Fiasco at the open flight in Ista, D'ram took over the Southern Weyr. When he retired, young K'van flew the queen and became the new Weyrleader of Southern at age 19 Turns.

A cousin of our invited us to watch a hatching. It was very emotional. People were happy and riders were born out of children. It was clearly a Harper moment. I didn't get a chance to sing. It was time other harpers sang.

Nobody actually knowns how a dragon chooses its rider but a dragon never errs.

Sisters Vacation

Me, Harper Maity, my two sisters, wher-handler Mari and Comp-tech Aki Ria are having a vacation here in Southern Continent. We first went to Southern Hold to brush up on relatives living there and are now in Paradise River. I shall show them Cove Hold next week. Was there last time and I had fun with some friends. Industry is booming even with the MasterHarper gone. We will miss him. His place hold lots of sentimental values and values in resources too. Lord Jaxom frequents there with his family. It's nice to see them from time to time.

The Voice

A Rough South

To survive the Southern Continent, one must always be prepared. Prepared in mind, body and equipment.
South was always known as a hostile land for almost 2000 Turns. There are wild bugs, big felines that don't hesitate to kill even a dragon and of course, the falling threat of Thread. For Thread, the problem has been remedied. D'ram reorganized Southern Weyr and is now headed by K'van. Young as he may be, he is very competent. Imagine the smallest dragonboy to become the youngest Weyrleader!
Of course Eastern Weyr at Monaco is headed by T'gellan, once from Benden. He will not let a single thread pass his territory.

For jungle areas with no Weyr near, that would be a problem. There is vegetation to feed Thread and so, you need to find a body of water fast! That is why i have a rain coat lined with a sheet of metal on one side. Just in case I get caught off guard. Adequate food must be packed and packed well. Not all fruits are edible out there!

My sis calls me a walking supply cabin. I have everything I need in a giant bag I carry around. One will never know what one will need out there. After all, it is Southern.
